Increased productivity and joy happens when one is focused on the present moment.
When distractions and thoughts are cleared, there is clarity. It is during these moments that we feel we can accomplish anything and positivity shines out of us.
When life has become increasingly distracting and busy, it is easy to react to everything that comes our way instead of being the one in control. This starts a cycle that is difficult to get out of and draining of our energy.
Massage is a wonderful way to keep this balance, and practice presence. It starts with taking time for yourself to breathe and relax.
Touch gently forces you to be aware of the here and now. And the release of tension in the muscles allows you to let go and deepens your awareness of the present moment. You are able to leave your past stress and tension and step into a new fluid and open present. In this, anything is possible and you can move forward with positivity and focus. Regular massage is a healthy discipline that gives way to greater fulfillment in life.
We invite you to take advantage of the many benefits of massage. And we look forward to seeing you shine.

How Much Product do you really need?
This is a great guide for product usage most people use too much, this helpful guide can save you money.
Using more product than needed doesn’t necessarily do more good for your complexion (not to mention the harm done to your wallet every time you cash another night cream). To save you from a lifetime of superfluous slathering, we’ve complied your beauty serving size guide. Trust us, this is one diet you’ll definitely be on board with.
Skin Care Products
Serving size: a hazelnut
Most face washes go further than you think, especially cleansers that foam. Foam can cover a lot ground so a dollop about the size of a hazelnut is all you need. For cream cleansers you can up the serving size slightly because creams don’t go as far.
Serving size: two raisins
If your moisturizer has SPF you certainly don’t want to skimp, but you can always add more. Start with an amount equal to about two raisins and begin the application in the areas you need moisture most. Add another raisin if two doesn’t cover it.
Serving size: one pine nut per eye
One pine nut per eye will cover the entire eye area. Pat about three-fourths of the cream under your bottom lashes from the outer corner to the inner corner. Pat the remaining cream from crease to brow bone.
Discovering the healer within
My mother was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her lung. The doctor said it was terminal and that she would live another twelve months. Needless to say the news was devastating to our family.
My sister and a few of my friends knew I was making the trip home to work on mother. They had all expressed their faith in my ability as a healer. Although I felt grateful for their belief in me, it did not make the situation any easier. As I drove down the winding gravel road to my parent’s house many thoughts were running through my mind: I cannot believe you actually think you can do this! Who do you think you are? Daddy did ask me to come but what could I say—thanks for the vote of confidence but I think I will pass?
I kept mulling over my twenty years of being a massage therapist/healer. Yes, there had been some very powerful “healing sessions” during my career, but this seemed very different. This was my mother and she had terminal cancer. I asked myself—What if this doesn’t work.
I finally snapped out of it and started praying for guidance “God help me, if I ever wanted to help someone, it’s Mama. Please show me how.” As I reached the last curve with the house in view, I knew I had to try, although I was uncertain what, if anything would occur.

Getting the most from your massage
Get the most from your Massage
You have just finished your massage and you feel great. What should you do to help keep that feeling going?
The first thing that you should do is drink some water — about two glasses. For some time, it was believed that drinking water would help remove lactic acid that was released into the bloodstream by the massage. Lactic acid has been related to muscle soreness, however, new research debunks the theory, indicating that the acid levels will return to normal within an hour. So, why do it? Because drinking water helps the body flush out any other toxins that will loosen up during your session and release into your bloodstream. The body always needs sufficient water for proper hydration and it becomes even more important after a massage.
After an aromatherapy massage, do not take a shower or bath right away. The essential oils that our therapist used should stay on your skin to allow them to reach their peak effectiveness and taking a bath or shower afterwards prevents this from happening.
Next, since one of the main reasons why people get a massage is to relax, you should avoid doing anything that will negate that feeling after your massage. Do not get right back into the hustle and bustle of a hectic schedule. Instead, schedule some “me-time” after your massage and do something that you find relaxing. Give yourself some time before you get back to running your errands, picking your kids up from school or going back to work.
One final recommendation is to schedule another session before you leave the office. The benefits of massage increase over time and with repeated sessions.
Before you leave, schedule your next appointment while our therapist has the most availability in their schedule.

Undo The Damage Of Your Desk Job
“I found this article about the damage of sitting at a desk can do to your body and I agree.. While computers have transformed our lives in so many ways..I see the effects that sitting at a desk everyday has on our clients.
I think that Yoga and massage are both great options for reducing stress and the effects on our bodies, ie:neck, arm, shoulder and low back pain and headaches. Mon Sanctuaire offers many therapeutic treatments that are specifically designed to help you address these issues. I like Bikram Yoga because the heat coupled with postures that are designed to unwind the body work really well!”
You may joke that your job is slowly killing you, but it might actually be true.
And while job-related stress seems like the main culprit when it comes to health and your career ( it can have negative health effects as far ranging as increased heart attack risk, depression or premature aging), there’s another danger lurking in the office: Sitting.
“Sitting is the new smoking,” warned Wired magazine earlier this year. And indeed research links a highly sedentary lifestyle with a shorter life span and increased risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, among other serious health problems.
As most desk jockeys know (and feel), sitting over a keyboard for hours can contribute to tightness in the hips and legs, in addition to neck, shoulder and back pain and discomfort. Camping out all day at a desk can also create an unhealthy posture — that you take with you when you leave for the day — in which the back and shoulders hunch down and the neck protrudes forward.
“There are a lot of very negative physical reactions created when the body’s not in movement,” Vyda Bielkus, certified yoga instructor and founder of Health Yoga Life studio in Boston, tells The Huffington Post. “Between sitting eight hours a day and then being in the elevator looking at your smartphone, you’re totally misaligning the spine.”
Yoga postures that target areas of tension can be an effective antidote to many desk-job ailments, according to Bielkus. And, as an added bonus, mind-body practice may help address the damaging stress of a high-pressure job by helping to calm the mind and quiet racing thought patterns.
“Yoga allows us to tap into the space between our thoughts, into our quiet mind and our awareness,” Bielkus says. “That’s what helps us gain perspective that stress is a choice — I can react with ease or I can react with stress and anxiety. Yoga helps us create some distance from our reactions.” READ MORE
How do you spell relief?
Over the past 25 years I have had the opportunity to work on more clients than I can count. I believe that the reason massage is so effective and why so many people are now seeking it is because it provides relief.
In this “on demand” world in which we live there are few opportunities to be unavailable to the outside world, so when we experience the peace we crave, our mind, body and spirit can experience a profound feeling of relaxation…and healing can then occur.
While the concept of relaxation as a path to relief sounds logical and may not be a new idea, the pressure from our day-to-day lives driven by an increasingly goal-oriented society can make this concept feel like a distant and sometimes impossible task. Most people don’t know how to relax so part of the session should focus on coaching someone to let go.
When we experience true relaxation, we are able to take our attention away from areas of the body experiencing pain or problems and healing can occur. Your nervous system will immediately respond; muscles relax, the flow of energy is restored to the affected area and release will occur more easily.
So the question is… How do you bridge the gap between therapeutic massage and alternative treatments with traditional medical practices and diagnosis?
Traditional Medical practices…
Throughout the years I have found that the medical profession focuses it’s attention on the specific area of pain. In my experience this area is only part of the problem and possibly just a symptom of a larger imbalance.
Often a client will approach a massage session in the same way; too focused on the painful area. In my experience, if I am working on a client that wants me to focus on a certain area, or believes that a particular method or modality is what is needed the session may not be as effective. Since the body’s muscles and fascia are so connected the pain someone experiences in their lower back may stem from their feet or ankles. Or if the lower back is out of balance they will eventually have pain in their neck and shoulders as well.
The health care profession has become so specialized sometimes the obvious is missed..
If experiencing chronic foot pain a doctor may recommend inserts to correct the foot’s misalignment. But foot pain can be triggered from a misaligned lower back which creates an imbalance. This can cause a shortening of the tissue/muscles in the lower back, legs and hamstrings. If the condition is left untreated long enough it can result in chronic foot pain. This is a example of why its extremely important to treat the whole body to ensure lasting results.
The beneficial results of reducing stress are immeasurable and I believe that change is on the horizon.
The medical profession is now recognizing stress as one of the causes of many diseases. More doctors now recommend massage/alternate therapies to reduce tension to their patients. I believe we are seeing a change toward a more holistic approach to health care. I think the public has in part influenced this shift. Yet, many clients still feel the need to explain in detail where they are experiencing pain and expect that the session should be focused on that area.
Nowhere in the medical field can you get the holistic approach and attention that is available in the hands of a talented and experienced massage therapist.
I emphasize, talented and experienced massage therapist because more and more people are entering the field of massage, but a license does not necessarily make them experts.
Clients and massage therapists can often be so focused on the particular technique that relaxation becomes illusive. The idea that digging deeper into a problem area to alleviate pain can actually be the opposite of what is needed and could do more harm. While training is very important and there are some very powerful techniques in the bodywork field today, they are only tools. Since each person is unique no one technique fits all. Its often best to avoid looking for a particular technique or list of credentials and focus on finding someone with experience. There is a delicate balance of positive expectations, technique and coaching the client to “let go” simultaneously that should be monitored by a therapist during each session.
Its also important to enter into each session with an open mind. I believe that each client’s trust and expectation of their session plays a big part in their experience and recovery.
We have few opportunities to be unavailable to the outside world today. But when we experience the peace we crave, our body, mind, and spirit can experience a profound sense of peace. Once we feel the sensation of relief we can then take a deep breath, relax, let our busy mind slow and allow ourselves to just be.
So no matter what your reason is for seeking massage, I hope you will take the opportunity to learn how to relax and most important…just breathe.

The top 10 superfoods
I found this article, on superfoods it’s full of useful information. Very worth reading.
The Top 10 Healthiest Superfoods You
NEED to Know About for Extreme
Health and Longevity
by Catherine Ebeling, RN BSN —
These are definitely some of the best superfoods you can eat for your health… Full of antioxidants, chock full of vitamins, minerals and good fats; they help to fix the damage we do every day with diets, environmental stressors, chemical additives and physical stress. If you can include a few servings of these foods in your weekly diet, you will be adding a lot to your good health, and preventing many diseases that could be coming your way otherwise.
The list includes some superstars you may already know about and newly discovered foods such as:
- Goji Berry
- Acai Berry
- Grass-Fed Meats and Wild-Caught Salmon
- Almonds, Walnuts and Other Nuts
- Garlic, Onions, Leeks and Shallots
- Grass-Fed Raw Dairy Milk, Cheese, and Butter
- Fermented Foods
Superfood #1. Goji Berries – Goji or wolfberries have long played important roles in Chinese medicine where they are believed to enhance immune system function, improve eyesight, protect the liver, boost sperm production and improve circulation, among other things. They can be eaten raw, consumed as juice or wine, brewed into an herbal tea, or prepared as a tincture.
Goji polysaccharides show antioxidant activity in vitro. As a source of dietary fiber, however, polysaccharides would yield products from bacterial fermentation in the colon, such as several short-chain fatty acids, e.g., butyric acid, which may provide health benefits.
Why You Should Eat Chocolate
Superfoods don’t just come from your supermarket’s produce aisle. In fact those chocolate candy bars next to the gummy bears now qualify. Study after study proves that dark chocolate—sweet, rich, and delicious—is good for more than curing a broken heart.
The secret behind its powerful punch is cacao, also the source of the sweet’s distinct taste. Packed with healthy chemicals like flavonoids and theobromine, this little bean is a disease-killing bullet. The only problem? Cacao on its own is bitter, chalky, nasty stuff.
Enter milk, sugar, and butter—good for your taste buds, not always good for your health. Besides adding calories, these can dilute the benefits of cacao. So snack smart: Stick to healthy chocolate with at least 70 percent cacao (or cocoa, which is cacao in its roasted, ground form). As long as the content is that high, says Mary Engler, Ph.D., a professor of physiological nursing at the University of California at San Francisco, you can reap the benefits from eating only small amounts. Because of its high fat and sugar content, limit yourself to 7 ounces, or about four dark chocolate bars, a week.
Common misconceptions about facial cleansers
After performing hundreds of facials I realized that there were conditions/complaints that I saw over and over that were caused by cleansers and facial scrubs.
Often the cleanser choice is based on concerns about breakouts or wanting to ward off aging. In both cases, and for all skin types and conditions until hydration levels are corrected your skin’s cellular environment will be UN-healthy.
Most clients are surprised to learn that their cleansing process is a big part of their frustration with their skin care products and the results they are getting. Some common side effects from dehydrated/overly cleansed skins are: Sensitivity, red blotchy cheeks, chapped feeling, constant breakout, blocked or enlarged pores.
A common misconception is that if you have oily skin you need to be sure to use a cleanser that will dry up the oil. While that is partly true most cleansers also strip away healthy moisture levels that leave your skin imbalanced.
Esthederm’s Osmoclean cleansers are: Cleansers that work in perfect osmosis with the skin. This is in contrast to traditional cleansers that clean the skin’s whole surface equally.
The difference.. Esthederm’s Osmo-cleansing removes harmful bacteria and preserves beneficial flora, thanks to it’s patented technique, Skin Balance System. Your skin is perfectly cleansed without stripping valuable moisture levels needed to support a healthy cellular environment. A healthy skin will be more balanced, less sensitive and actually break out less.
I use and recommend Esthederm products because they work. Each facial starts with a 3 Step Osmo-Cleansing process that includes a daily cleanser, gentle deep pore cleanser and a gentle but effective exfoliation. These products are available for home use also follow link below for more information.
